Periodontal disease is the most common chronic inflammatory non-communicable in human population. It estimated that severe periodontitis affects 11% of world’s population, with prevalence increasing age. Subgingival instrumentation refers to all non-surgical procedures, either performed by hand (i.e., curettes) or power-driven instruments sonic/ultrasonic devices).
